Why I’m Running
I’m running for Mayor because I believe Whittier works best when residents are heard, respected, and included—before decisions are made, not after. I grew up understanding the importance of family, hard work, and looking out for one another. Like many Latino families, mine taught me that community isn’t abstract—it’s your neighbors, your block, your schools, and the places where daily life happens. Those values are what have guided my years of public service and my decision to step forward now. Over time, I’ve heard the same concerns again and again: people feel City Hall isn’t listening, decisions feel rushed or confusing, and too often residents are brought in after the fact. I don’t believe that’s how local government should work. Good leadership starts by listening, explaining decisions clearly, and treating people with respect—even when there are disagreements. I’m not running because I think Whittier is broken. I’m running because it deserves leadership that is open, thoughtful, and focused on everyday quality-of-life issues—safer streets, strong neighborhoods, and growth that doesn’t erase what makes this city home. After many years of the same leadership, I believe it’s healthy to bring a new approach—one grounded in transparency, long-term thinking, and real dialogue with residents. My goal is simple: to make City Hall work better for the people who live here and to ensure Whittier’s future is shaped by the community itself. That’s why I’m running—for my family, for your family, and for the Whittier we all care about.
